Suns members on board for Gold Coast’s finals bid

GOLD Coast Suns supporters appear confident their club is headed for a period of success, if membership numbers are anything to go by.

For the first time in the club's history, Gold Coast has signed up 10,000 members before Christmas.

Reaching the milestone three months earlier than last year, the Suns, now coached by Rodney Eade (pictured), have eclipsed the previous pre-December 25 record of 8311, set in 2011.

After falling away badly in 2014, the Suns are expected to surge next season and contest their first finals series.

"What is evident is the overall outlook for the Gold Coast Suns is extremely optimistic and this response indicates our members can see the direction we're taking and want to be part of the ride," Suns chief executive Travis Auld said.

The biggest signing could come next month when skipper Gary Ablett puts pen to paper on a two-year contract extension.
