Sunday Driving: rain creating many Pacific Highway hot spots

Update 5pm

At Coffs Harbour - generally clear but continuing rain causing hazards

At Macksville - northbound queue of 10km adding 45 minutes and 3km southbound queue adding 10 minutes

Port Macquarie - hazard at Blackman's Point causing extensive delays, especially southbound.

Some delays at Woodburn but Ewingsdale now clear

On current estimates, delays south of Macksville and at Blackman's Point may continue for some hours yet with rain adding to the hazard levels 

 

Update 4pm

At Coffs Harbour - traffic flowing freely but some delays at intersections with traffic lights

At Macksville - northbound 10km queue adding 37 minutes to journeys and 4.5km southbound queue adding 14 minutes

At Port Macquarie - northbound traffic queued back 13km at Blackman's Point with southbound queued 7km after police cleared scene of earlier traffic incident

Other delays at Ewingsdale and Woodburn (north)

At Coffs Harbour - heavy rain is disrupting traffic flow on the Pacific Highway-Grafton Street with lengthy delays

At Macksville - northbound queue of 13km adding one hour to journeys and southbound queue of 4.5km adding 10 minutes

At Kempsey - now clear

At Port Macquarie - northbound traffic back to normal at Hastings River Drive interchange - one lane open at Blackman's Point, about 16km north of Port Macquarie. due to multi-vehicle incident with alternating flows organised by police but queues growing quickly in both directions

 

Update 1.30pm

At Coffs Harbour - delays northbound with increased traffic through CBD - significant traffic building up on southside of city and long delays expected

At Macksville - Pacific Highway closed in both directions at Warrell Creek after three car pile-up - no detours

At Port Macquarie - northbound traffic queued for 5km at Hastings River Drive interchange but significant clearance after earlier traffic incident

At Kempsey - bottleneck at Frederickton has cleared

At Coffs Harbour - heavy northbound traffic has slowed flow to a crawl - be wary of blocking traffic lanes due to changing lights near new Justice Centre

At Macksville - northbound traffic queued back 11km adding 40 minutes to journeys

At Kempsey - Frederickton northbound traffic queued for 1km adding five minutes to journey

At Port Macquarie - multi-vehicle crash near Hastings River Drive is causing significant northbound delays with traffic queued back to the Oxley Highway interchange

At Coffs Harbour - northbound city centre traffic has eased

At Macksville - northbound queue for 8km adding 25 minutes to travel time

At Kempsey - Frederickton queue for 1km adding five minutes to travel time

 

HOLIDAY traffic is building up on the Pacific Highway.

Heavy rain and an unusually high northbound traffic flow are causing delays passing through the Coffs Harbour city area.

Northbound traffic on the Pacific Highway at Macksville is queued back 1.5km adding an extra five minutes to the trip.

Motorists are reminded to drive to the conditions and expect delays.
