Summer rain allows Bellingen Council to deliver water relief

RECENT rainfall and increased flows in the Bielsdown and Bellinger Rivers has seen the council lower the level of water restrictions in time for the Christmas holidays.

Level three restrictions have been lowered to level one, effective immediately.

At level one, some restriction still applies and these can be found on www.bellingen.nsw.gov.au under the Works and Services tab.

In summary, the use of sprinklers and soaker hoses is banned except for newly laid turf and in that case, written approval is required from the council.

Hours of hand watering are 6-8am and 5-7pm any day.

Vehicles must be washed on a grassed area.

Bellingen Shire Council will consider requests for exemption from consumers with special needs but unless written permission has been given, watering with fixed hoses or sprinklers is prohibited.
