Summer holidays bring arts and crafts to coast

ART and craft lovers are in for a treat with two major exhibitions beginning this weekend.

On Saturday, the Valla Expressions pop up festival gets underway at the pre-school hall from 10am.

The exhibition gives local artists an opportunity to display their work to the wider community.

Paintings, ceramics, wood furniture and sculpture, photography, jewellery and wood furniture by 11 artists will make for a diverse body of quality work.

Then on Sunday at the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden in Coffs Harbour the Gypsy Art Group will begin an eight day exhibition.

This group of artists will be showing eclectic artworks together with hand-crafted paper, handmade journals and assemblages.

There will also be artworks by Chinese artist Andrew Lo.

Andrew has been a patron of the Gypsy Art Group over the past two years and his love of painting techniques on rice paper with an Australian twist has been a great influence.
