Sultana leads the charge against graffiti vandalism

COFFS Harbour City councillor Mark Sultana is leading the charge against graffiti this month as the city's co-ordinator for Graffiti Removal Day on October 26.

Cr Sultana wants other local residents to join him in the clean-up day and to nominate areas for clean-up crews to work on.

The aim of the day is to highlight the problem of graffiti and encourage people to volunteer their time and get involved in the removal and prevention of graffiti, complementing existing graffiti-fighting programs.

Cr Sultana said some of the newest structures in the city, including sound walls alongside the Sapphire to Woolgoolga section of the Pacific Hwy, had already been defaced by graffiti.

He has also been told there were graffiti problems in Toormina as well.

Graffiti Removal Day is being supported by the State Government and Coffs Harbour Rotary as well as a number of private companies.

Volunteers will be given instructions and supplied with equipment like gloves, overalls, eye protection , graffiti removal liquid, applicators and paint.

Cr Sultana can be contacted on mobile 0419 572 305 or email mark.sultana @chcc.nsw.gov.au.
