Student wins prize with weight solution

TWO well-rounded red and white heifers from Karangi's Charlinda Poll Hereford Stud had plenty of admirers when they made an appearance at the recent Orara Valley Fair.

Visitors to the Fair had the opportunity to win $100 cash and support Karangi Public School by paying a gold coin to hazard a guess at the combined weight of the pair, who won the broad ribbon for best pair of heifers, all breed at the 2015 Coffs Harbour Show.

Young stock fancier Tayah Teal of Karangi kept the prize money close to home with her guess of 755kg, just a few kilos shy of their correct weight of 758kg.

The prize was provided by Boost Juice franchisee and Karangi PS parent Colin Webster.
