Strike Force Raptor puts heat on illegal operators

BREAKING the code of silence of Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs, Strike Force Raptor has spent five years smashing through the doors of bikie clubhouses.

With the assistance of Coffs Clarence detectives, State Crime Command gang squad officers raided the Coffs Harbour Rebels clubhouse in Marcia St and the Nomads Coffs Harbour premises in Hi-Tec Dr in August.

Using an "in-your-face" style of policing, Raptor has busted 2455 bikies on 5599 offences on everything from murder to illegal parking.

Investigators say they have laid more than 1000 drug charges, 627 firearms charges and a further 344 for violent crimes.

Investigators and the Australian Tax Office have hit 18 NSW Rebels gang members with 273 tax offences, including not lodging their returns or Business Activity Statement in time.

In Raptor raids, more than 400 firearms and 250 other weapons have been seized, along with prohibited drugs and steroids and more than $2.3 million cash.
