Sticky-fingered thief caught with pants down

A THIEF'S run of bad luck ended in a court date when he swapped out his wet pants for a dry pair he stole from Myer at Sunshine Plaza.

An employee called police at 11.25am on June 26 after seeing Trumaine Damian Huskisson take the clothes, worth $69.95, from the store.

When police caught up with him they found a stolen portable power bank worth $70 in the pants' pocket, and a glass pipe in his backpack, which he admitted he used to smoke drugs.

Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard Huskisson stole the items after he got stuck in the rain and his phone died.

The 35-year-old father and handyman pleaded guilty to unauthorised dealing with shop goods and possessing the used pipe.

He was fined $150 and $450 respectively, with convictions recorded.
