State Government allocate 22 new nurses to the Wide Bay

EXTRA nurses will be stationed in the Wide Bay as part of the State Government's new Nurse Navigator program.

Member for Maryborough Bruce Saunders said patients in the Wide Bay would receive better care with an extra 22 experienced nurses to be hired by the Palaszczuk Government in the next four years.

"We are delivering on a key election commitment with 22 Nurse Navigators to be located here in the Wide Bay," he said.

"Our Nurse Navigators will ease a patient's journey through our local health system ensuring they are supported and receiving the best possible care, in a timely manner.

"We are improving frontline services through boosting the nursing workforce.

"This will benefit our local community and strengthen local healthcare.

"This initiative is designed to get people through the system quicker and to prevent readmissions."
