Star gazing at coffs schools

ASTRONOMER David Reneke will visit Coffs Harbour this month to host a workshop for Year Five students at St Augustines Primary School.

David, who has more than 40 years experience in astronomy, will give students an insight into the evolution of the universe, stars, galaxies, black holes and the latest discoveries in astronomy from around the world.

The program, which brings the universe into the classroom, will teach students how to use a telescope and what to look for in the night sky.

The visit is part of the AUSTAR for schools program and takes place on May 20.

“I'm delighted to be asked to run a series of Astronomy Outreach presentations as part of the AUSTAR for schools program to students in Coffs Harbour,” Dave said.
