Star performers at Bellingen

THE Bellingen Music Festival will feature a cast of star performers including the talented Deidre Rickards.

Audiences keen to hear Peter Cousens sing on May 28 will be treated to this fine pianist sharing the stage with him.

Ms Rickards is a graduate of Newcastle Conservatorium, Deakin University and the Royal College of Music in London.

She is well known to audiences in the North-West and North Coast regions of NSW, where she has worked in a number of schools, both directing and teaching music, including music method at UNE.

Her teaching has been recognised with the National Excellence in Teaching Award and the Australian College of Educational Research Award.

The talented musician has played in master class for Stephen Kavecovic and for John Lill at the Dartington International summer school.

Ms Rickards has performed with the Armidale Symphony Orchestra, playing concertos by Grieg, Rachmaninoff No.2, Liszt No.2, Schumann and Saint-Saens, and in The Carnival of Animals, where she shared the stage with Wendy Lorenz.

The classical music festival will be held on May 28-29 at the Bellingen Memorial Hall on Hyde St.
