Stand up to save park

BRELSFORD Park’s life cycle from 1886 to the present will be a highlight of tonight’s Save Brelsford Park Rally at the park at 5.30pm.

Organiser Nan Cowling said there would also be a sea of placards to emphasise the need to retain the park as a whole and not just part of it, as Coffs Harbour City Council is proposing.

“This is not a lost cause if enough people are prepared to turn up and show our council that we are passionate about holding onto our last remaining green space within the CBD,” Mrs Cowling said.

“People power is the answer. Stand up and be counted as one of the townspeople prepared to make a stand for our future generations.

“Public buildings have no place in a park.”

Mayor Keith Rhoades said the development proposed for Brelsford Park would involve using 20 per cent of the area, with 80 per cent retained as open space.
