BOXING: Sunshine Coast's Taylah Robertson has claimed a bronze medal after going down to England's Lisa Whiteside in a split decision at the Commonwealth Games.
The 19-year-old bowed out of the closely contested 51kg semi-final on Friday after judges awarded 32-year-old Whiteside the victory 3-2.
Robertson dominated the first round but Whiteside, the 2014 World Championships silver medallist, fought back in earnest.
Robertson was disappointed after entering the competition riding a wave of confidence.
"She came forward strong, but I'm unsatisfied with the result," Robertson said.
"I feel like I won the fight - I had the cleaner shots."
It was her first and only fight on the Gold Coast after being afforded a bye in the seven-woman draw.
Although her journey is over, Robertson still walked away with a bronze medal at her Games debut.
The Cooroy fighter earned her spot on the national team after winning the Australian women's 51kg title in November.
Whiteside will enter the ring against Northern Ireland's Carly McNaul to fight for gold today.
