Is the food a bit spicy at Zambreros? Have a beer
ZAMBREROS patrons can now enjoy a cold beer with their spicy Mexican food in the Stockland Hervey Bay shopping centre.
Franchise partner Alex Laird said selling alcohol at Stockland's Zambreros made them stand out from the other food outlets in the centre.
"We wanted to offer a point of difference and encourage more night trade in Stocklands," Mr Laird said.
"Now people can get great Mexican food and a tasty, adult drink to wash it down."
Zambreros now sells beer, cider, alcoholic ginger beer and is planning to introduce frozen margaritas to go with their menu.
Mr Laird said the drinks were becoming more popular the more people knew it was available.
"The sales started slow but they're getting better," he said.
"We're looking at upgrading the outdoor area to bring more people outside to enjoy a drink in the afternoon or night time.
"And so far we've had a lot of good reception online."
The shop is licensed to serve alcohol within the store and directly outside their doors but cannot serve the 18+ drinks within the centre.
Mr Laird said Zambreros encouraged its customers to drink responsibly.
"We are licensed from 10am until closing and we don't want to encourage excessive drinking at all," he said.
"We all have our RSA's now and Stockland was happy to get on board but obviously we want to keep it a low-risk venue where people can come in and have a responsible drink or two with their awesome meal," he said.
