William Spedding awaits bail decision on child sex charges

A PERSON of interest in the case of missing toddler William Tyrrell will have to wait to learn whether his bail application in the NSW Supreme Court on unrelated offences has been successful.

The decision is expected to be handed down on Friday.

Detectives investigating the toddler's suspected abduction arrested William "Bill" Spedding, 63, on unrelated child sex offences on April 22.

He was charged with five counts of sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 10 and two counts of common assault.

It is alleged he sexually assaulted two girls inside a caravan in Sydney's south-west during the 1980s.

William Tyrrell, 3, has not been seen since September 12 last year when he disappeared while playing in the backyard of his grandmother's home in Kendall on the NSW Mid-North Coast.

Mr Spedding has not been charged over William's disappearance and has repeatedly denied any involvement.
