Special raffle in memory of Ben

AFTER the tragic death of her nine-year-old son, Joy McPherson is organising a special Mother's Day raffle in his memory this weekend.

Ben McPherson would have celebrated his 10th birthday in March but tragically, a catastrophic brain bleed claimed his life in January of this year.

His family were told it was caused by a very rare and aggressive form of Leukaemia he could not have survived.

Now, in his memory and to raise money for the Starlight Foundation, Joy has been superb in organising The Ben McPherson Memorial Mother's Day Raffle.

First prize in the raffle a family dolphin encounter at the Pet Porpoise Pool, followed by a gift basket from the Bailey Centre Pharmacy worth $150 for second.

Third will receive two Big Banana family passes. Other prizes include presents from the Little Lolly Shop, Coffs Cordials, Raleigh International Raceway passes, Holiday Lanes vouchers, Bananacoast Hot Bake vouchers, Clogbarn family passes, Butterfly House family passes and a Crazy Clark's stainless steel toaster.

“We have been blown away by the generosity of local businesses who have donated prizes - no-one said no,” Joy said. “We would like to thank all of them. All of the money raised will go to the Starlight Foundation, where we know it will make a difference to sick kids.”

Tickets for the raffle are $2 each or three for $5 and are available at Coffs Harbour Primary School, Coffs Harbour Preschool, The Pet Porpoise Pool and Crazy Clarks.
