South Wall takes shape with concrete hanbars put in place
WHAT a difference six months can make?
A good friend of the Advocate, Geoff Hampson, is among the horde of locals who have been keeping a close eye on the progress of the renewal of South Wall.
The $19 million project has involved the casting and placing of around 2500 hanbars each weighing between 16 and 28 tonnes.
Geoff took the photograph above in January 15 as work got under way, and the most recent photo on June 18, after the last of the handbars had been placed.
It is expected the project will be completed by the end of next month.
The renewed South Wall will provide added protection to the harbour and will be a great platform for everyone from fishers to sightseers to take in the precinct's breaktaking scenery.
