SOLO sailor Bruce Arms, in his 14 metre catamaran Big Wave Rider, is expected to arrive at Mooloolaba between 9am and midday today, setting a new round Australia record.

Bruce, renowned sailor and two-time winner of the Solo Trans-Tasman yacht race, is in week 5 of his world-record attempt to sail around Australia solo, non-stop, and un-assisted in under 42 days.

At 6 am on Thursday, 18 August 2011, he was 42.4 kilometres SE of Mooloolaba and 73 hours ahead of the existing record of 42 days 5 hours 33 minutes.
