Soccer kick-off is finally here

THE long off-season wait is finally over for players, parents and coaches.

This weekend marks the opening round in all competitions in both the Coffs Harbour and Clarence regions that North Coast Football covers.

The sense of expectation has been heightened by the troublesome draw which was moved over to the Sporting Pulse system, causing headaches for administrators and frustration for teams.

However with the first round of the draw appearing this week, all teams are full steam ahead with only hours remaining until kick-off.

All eyes will now turn skywards as one of the wettest pre-seasons on record makes way for the winter competition.

Surely no club needs to turn the sprinklers on their pitches this week and the fields at both Yamba and Maclean were closed yesterday.

Most of the men’s 1st division teams have a match under their belts after playing in the Solo Cup last week.

The women however have had a quiet build-up with just a few pre-season games and perhaps a local ‘cup’ competition to help get the combinations right.
