Championship hopes dashed

THERE'S no shortage to the enormous amount of sporting talent on the Coffs Coast and the girls from Coffs Harbour Senior College have provided another example of how deep the sporting well is in the area.

Competing at the recent NSW State Open Futsal Championships in Sydney, the Senior College girls who easily won the Regional Championships earlier in the year proved that they're a team to be reckoned with after making it all the way to the State semi-finals.

This result has the school proudly boasting that this team can rightly say that they're among the top four teams in the State.

The competition was open to both private and public schools across NSW and these girls showed what they were made of the moment they took to the field of play in Sydney.

Play was fast and furious throughout the tournament with a great deal of improvisation required as each team employed new and varied tactics so a lot of adaptation was required by the girls to try and stay ahead of the competition.

The team were clear winners in their pool matches which included two morale and confidence boosting come-from-behind wins.

The success in the pool matches saw them progress through to the quarter finals and then on to the semi finals where their hopes of a State Championship title were dashed in a 6-2 loss against Erindale High School.
