Snapping turtles found in environmental survey

A SURVEY has been completed at the Bellinger and Kalang rivers as part of the response program to the snapping turtle mortality event last year.

The survey - co-ordinated by several environmental agencies - located a small number of adult turtles that were captured and sampled before being released.

It follows a mystery illness in February last year that killed scores of the rare turtle in the region.

More details will be provided when findings have been compiled.
