Snappers and Marlins in derby

WITH the drought finally broken for Coffs Snappers, coach Rod Waddy enters today's local derby with SCU Marlins oozing confidence.

It's hard to believe but last weekend's win over Pirates on a bog ground was the club's first since August 2014 and the coach is keen to make it two on the trot.

"If the rain stays away and the wind dries the surface out I'll feel even better," Waddy said.

"I've got a high regard for Uni's forward pack but the backline is where we have a real edge.

"This is a very big game for us and a win gets us back on track and climbing the ladder."

A broken thumb will see prop Pat Murray miss the match with Matt Joyce placed in the run-on side.

The other prop, Lachy Cummins, will undergo a fitness test before kick-off after being carried off with an aggravated AC last Saturday.

There's also some concern over captain Kris Kent who suffered a laceration to his calf at work during the week.

It's also the annual Old Boys Day at TG Jung Quarries Rugby Field and a selection of special club merchandise will be on sale at the ground.
