Small towns miss out on broadband

FEDERAL member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker says the government's high-speed broadband proposal will not reach many Coffs Coast residents.

The broadband network will only be extended to towns with a population of around 1000 or more people.

“According to population figures provided by the ABS communities such as Moonee Beach, Corindi Beach, Dorrigo, Gulmarrad, Smithtown and Gladstone, Frederickton and Scotts Head will all miss out,” said Mr Hartsuyker.

“There are already concerns that this pipedream could force up the monthly connection to $200.”
