Letter to the Editor - July 12: Skateboarders no trouble

IN RESPONSE to Peter Walz, "Skaters behaving badly" (CCA 9/7/14), having spent a fair bit of time at the Port Macquarie skate park with my seven-year-old grandson, I have to say that I have never witnessed any antisocial behaviour.

To the contrary, everyone takes their turn and the older teens and young adults always give way to the little ones and treat them with care and take care around them.

It's a shame that you think the opening of the park will be a "nightmare for the authorities" as you are pre-stigmatising something that is a fantastic outlet for the young ones.

I think the people that you saw arguing with the police were just overly keen to use this fantastic new facility.
