Silly fines are not a solution for deaths
QUEENSLAND drivers can now avoid an automatic $1392 fine and four demerit points for a damaged or illegible numberplate in New South Wales.
But, truckies still aren't happy, wishing the RMS would stop handing out fines that "have nothing to do with cutting down the senseless deaths on our roads”.
Lindsay Anderson said "instead of being heavy handed with those types of fines, why not focus on better driver training instead of issuing licences willy nilly without teaching people how to regain control of a car in bad driving conditions and serious punishment to repeat unlicensed/convicted dangerous drivers”.
Chris Guascoine said only when the people of NSW "learn how to vote correctly and how to demand accountability from their public servants this type of revenue raising rort will continue and all in the name of road safety”.
"We need a review of the laws in NSW and certainly a review of the law makers very very quickly,” he said.
John Steuart said he thought he'd never see the day the RMS "actually say they were wrong”.
"Congratulations on finally admitting you stuffed up RMS. Now how about the NHRV take note and take action regarding a lot of other fines handed out by RMS which aren't correct.”
