Coffs encouraged to give blood

KEITH Rhoades doesn’t need to be convinced about the need to give blood.

Yesterday he slipped on surgical gloves and invited everyone in the city to have a big heart.

Cr Rhoades hasn’t seen too much spilled during his tenure as the city’s mayor, but in his capacity as a firefighter, he knows that blood saves lives.

“On numerous occasions I’ve seen first-hand why it is so important that we have a fully stocked bloodbank,” Cr Rhoades said.

That campaign is all about finding which town in New South Wales has the biggest heart and is the most generous as measured by the amount of blood its residents give.

“It would be great if we could get more local people to donate, and in the process win for the city the title of the town with the biggest heart,” Cr Rhoades said.
