Shortlist for highway upgrade

THREE companies have been shortlisted to tender for Australia's largest regional road project.

Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss said the contract to deliver the final 155km of the Pacific Hwy upgrade between Woolgoolga and Ballina has attracted global interest.

"Seven consortia submitted an expression of interest in September and October, and we have carefully selected the three strongest applicants," Mr Truss said.

"The three consortia are now in the final stage of choice, with the competitive tender (just started).

"We are looking to announce the successful industry partner early in 2015, and also expect major work to start next year."

The three shortlisted tenders are:

  • Pacific Complete, comprising CH2M Hill, Laing O'Rourke and Parsons Brinkerhoff;
  • the joint venture of Jacobs Group and Fulton Hogan; and
  • PacWay Delivery Partner Joint Venture, comprising Advisian, Aurecon, Mace and Seymour Whyte.
