Shoes made to kick off fundraiser

THE Student Associations at TAFE’s Coffs Harbour and Macksville campuses, and Coffs Harbour Education Campus have kicked off an aid drive to collect shoes for our poorer neighbours in Haiti, Nepal and Africa.

“The collection of shoes is part of a statewide TAFE Student Associations initiative,” said TAFESA officer for the region Mark Thorn.

“The aim is simple – to provide shoes to those who have none.

“Over 300 million people worldwide have never owned a pair of shoes. In some poorer countries, possessing a pair of shoes can mean the difference between getting a job or not.”

So if you have some ‘hardly worn’ shoes (joggers or walking shoes for adults or children) in your cupboard, drop them off to a collection box at one of the following locations: the Admin Building at Macksville TAFE Campus on West Street; Admin Building at Coffs Harbour TAFE Campus on Glenreagh Street or F Block SCU Shop (near the canteen) at CHEC on Hogbin Drive.
