Shed fire extinguished at property south of Mackay
UPDATE 10.30AM: Firefighters have extinguished a fire that inside a three-bay shed at a private property south of Mackay this morning.
Emergency crews were called to the scene along the Bruce Highway at Clairview about 7.40am.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said urban crews from Mackay and Sarina had put out the blaze just before 9am.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said police were still at the property to continue investigations into how the fire started.
He said there were reports fuel tanks had “gone off” in the fire.
EARLIER 8.20AM: Firefighting crews are rushing to a large shed on fire at a private property south of Mackay.
Emergency service crews received the call about 7.40am.
Two police crews and an ambulance team are at the scene along the Bruce Highway in Clairview with firefighting crews on their way from Sarina, Carmila and Mackay.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the ambulance crew was there as a precautionary measure.
“There seems to be a shed fire, possibly a vehicle inside,” the spokesman said.
“Apparently the fire started spreading to a nearby grass area as well.”
He said there may also be a fuel tank at the property with firefighting crews on their way.
It is understood water tanks have exploded at the scene with concerns there are motorbikes and gunpowder stored inside the shed.
