Sharks' sleeping giant awakens

BE afraid Coffs Harbour, be very afraid.

Winning the major semi-final against Port Macquarie may just have woken a sleeping giant if yesterday's demolition is any guide.

While Coffs Harbour had its feet up yesterday waiting for Sunday's grand final, Port Macquarie showed why it was the runaway minor premier by annihilating Macksville.

With a berth in the grand final on the line the Sharks came out breathing fire and virtually ended the match as a contest within 20 minutes before running away to an amazing 74-10 victory.

Yesterday's one-sided result completed an amazing weekend of football.

Sawtell claimed its third consecutive AFL North Coast premiership.

And with a stunning 91 point against Port Macquarie.

Coffs United moved straight into the North Coast Football grand final.

That's after recording a 4-1 upset win over minor premier Coffs Coast Tigers.

While neither of the Coffs Rugby teams were involved in the first grade MNC Rugby grand final the club can take heart from the victories recorded in the lower grade title deciders.
