Shake off the winter blues at the Bello music festival
THERE'S no doubt about it, the Bello Winter Music is the perfect excuse to get away for a few days and shake off the winter blues.
The latest festival to hit the music calendar has its first gigs tomorrow with a perfect line-up to warm your musical hearts this winter over four great days.
Grammy-nominated guitar and vocal harmony duo The Milk Carton Kids will headline a superb, diverse line-up that includes roots and blues legend Ash Grunwald with his star studded band.
Also on the list is the Melbourne melodist with the arresting voice Ainslie Wills, new gospel/hip hop outfit Jones Jr featuring DJ Morgs from Thundamentals and Ev Jones from Rumpunch as well as folk pop darlings Tinpan Orange.
Festival goers will also be able to catch soul diva Emma Donovan with her Melbourne funk band The Putbacks, exotic rhythms from Bobby Singh's internationally acclaimed trio Rasa Duende and red hot flamenco from Arte Kanela.
They will join over 60 other international, national and local acts that will light up the pubs, halls and street corners of the beautiful, picturesque town of Bellingen.
Following a similar format to its much loved summer sister festival, The Mullum Music Festival, Bello Winter Music will take place throughout Bello's many delightful venues.
"Bellingen has a similar counter-culture to Mullumbimby; it's just back from the coastal tourist destinations and it's a naturally beautiful area," director of Bello Winter and Mullum Music FestivalS Glenn Wright said.
"Just like Mullumbimby, Bellingen has a diverse community, a long history of environmentalism and a vibrant local music scene.
"A third of the Bello line-up is made up of local musicians from Bellingen and the Coffs Coast area."
