Letter to the Editor - December 6: Service station concerns

I LIVE near the site of the proposed service station between Wentworth Ave and Argyle St and have a number of concerns about the impact it will have on the local area.

I am concerned the flow of water through the nearby Tree Fern Creek may be affected and therefore contribute to flooding.

I am concerned about the impact it may have on property values and its impact on the environment and wildlife.

I am concerned about the safety issues of having thousands of litres of petrol stored so close to residential properties and the increase of noise.

I don't know if any studies or research have been conducted on these and other possible issues but I think the council should make it publicly known, especially to all nearby residents.

I don't know why the developer wants to build a service station here anyway. We have five service stations in very close proximity and we are being told the highway will be diverted around Coffs Harbour one day.

Makes you wonder if that will ever happen.
