THE English language has brought us the shimmering imagery of Eliot, the trailblazing repartee of Shakespeare and John Williamson's 2003 classic, Old Man Emu.

All have become linguistic yardsticks in their own right. But Senator David Leyonhjelm will have none of that, thank you very much.

The Liberal Democrat has never been one to mince words, so his response was predictable when NSW Upper House Greens MP David Shoebridge took a shot at him over guns.

Warning: some adult language lies ahead.

Mr Shoebridge wrote a letter to NSW police commissioner Andrew Scipione after a Liberal Democrats poll-booth volunteer posted a video online showing off his weapons arsenal.

The Greens MP said having unsecured guns was a breach of the Firearms Act, and demanded Mr Leyonhjelm disown the man in the video.

It didn't really work out.

"A minor flurry today in response to that d***head David Shoebridge pretending he knows something about gun laws," Mr Leyonhjelm posted on Facebook.

"I said he can go and get f***ed."

Mr Leyonhjelm adores the word, and he is bringing it back with a vengeance.

He once told a bunch of admittedly creepy anti-gun protesters, for some reason dressed in medieval garb and strumming lutes, to "f*** off" when they danced around him as he entered an elevator.

It was on camera, fortunately.

He also once responded to a protestor's email that referenced Hitler with: "Go f*** yourself you communist turd."

And last year the Liberal Democrats released a "hurt feelings complaint form" to "streamline our grievance processes" due to so many whinging lefties.

"Should anything any of us do, say, think or look like we're thinking of doing or saying cause your knickers to bunch unceremoniously please feel free to fill out one of our handy complaints forms," the form stated.

Subcategories included comments being deemed offensive "if you stood on one leg, cocked your head to the side and squinted a bit" and David Leyonhjelm "told me to f*** off".

It then suggested one should "please feel free to roll up this piece of paper and stick it fair up your arse".

Take that Shakespeare, you old f***ing hack. -ARM NEWSDESK
