Semi ‘slammed’ by media, says Eels teammate
LEAGUE: Fullback Michael Gordon has gone into battle for his Eels teammate Semi Radradra, who is due to face court in Parramatta tomorrow.
The 24-year-old winger is expected to plead not guilty to three charges of domestic violence – one count of causing actual bodily harm and two counts of common assault.
Radradra appeared today for a video review of the Eels’ loss to the Sharks.
“I think he’s been copping a fair bit of unfair criticism. They (the media) have been parked outside his house and bombarding him everywhere,” Gordon told reporters.
“I thought people are innocent until proven guilty and he’s just been slammed left, right and centre, which I think is very unfair.”
Gordon said despite the turmoil off the field and the close attention from the Sharks on it, Radradra put in a solid performance against the ladder leader on Saturday.
“The Sharks (did) a really good job on him,” Gordon said.
“He had a lot of tough carries. He can’t score length-of-the-field tries every week but I thought he (did) a lot of hard work. He’s a great player.”
