Self-taught artist to enter Lillipilli exhibit
RON Bath will enter the Coffs Harbour Lillipilli Art and Craft Exhibition for the third time this year.
A self-taught painter, Ron says painting for him is not a full-time job, but has become a 'passionate hobby' in the 15 years since he began painting.
The Sawtell-based artist currently has work hanging in the Woolgoolga Art Group's Wondrous Works of the Woolgoolga Art Group show, which opened on Friday at the Bunker Cartoon Gallery.
Ron, a member of WAG's Tuesday plein air painting group, also exhibits his work in galleries in Bellingen and Inverell as well as the Woolgoolga Art Gallery.
He plans to enter three of his oils in the Lillipilli exhibition.
Entries in the 2009 Coffs Harbour Lillipilli Art and Craft Exhibition close on February 27.
The exhibition, to be held at Coffs Harbour's Norm Jordan Pavilion at the Showground, will be opened on April 17 and will be open to the public from April 18 to April 26.
The broad-based competitive exhibition offers prizes for calligraphy, ceramics, photography, furniture fibre craft and there are youth awards in four different categories and the painting sections offer prizes for pastel, watercolours drawing, miniatures, seascapes and maritime subjects as well as oils and acrylics and contemporary.
Entry forms for the Lillipilli are available from Coffs Coast local art groups, art galleries and art supply shops.
