A TUNGAMULL man, 48, died yesterday after a single-vehicle crash on the Bruce Hwy at The Caves.

The man, travelling in a white ute, was headed south along the Bruce Hwy about 2pm when his vehicle suddenly veered into an embankment and came to a stop.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating whether a medical condition contributed to the crash.

Acting Inspector of the Rockhampton Division Mark Burgess said it was important for drivers to take care on the road.

"This is the third serious crash that has occurred in the Rockhampton Division over the Queen's Birthday weekend," Acting Insp Burgess said.

On Saturday, 19-year-old Gracemere man Revel Ezzy died when his car rolled.

It travelled down a steep embankment, coming to rest near St Christopher Chapel Rd.

Just 24 hours later a man, 37, was hospitalised with significant injuries after he crashed his car on Emu Park Rd.

"What is particularly concerning is that a 19-year-old male lost his life tragically in one of those accidents on Saturday," Acting Insp Burgess said.

"The other peculiar thing about these crashes is that they have all been single-vehicle accidents.

"What I say to people is driver attention and driver distraction are critical... I implore drivers to take care over the Queen's Birthday weekend and at any time they are travelling long distances."
