Second arrest over bashing

THE police investigation into the attack on Sawtell's Gary Vigors has yielded more results.

Detectives on Monday afternoon arrested a Toormina man, 19, and charged him with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm, and affray.

He was bailed to appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on September 22.

This follows last week's arrest of a Coffs Harbour man, 19.

He was charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm in company, and was conditionally bailed to appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on September 15.

Mr Vigors, 61, was left badly injured when he was set upon by a group of five young men near his Elizabeth Street home on August 15.

In other news, police are calling for help as they investigate the assault of a man, 51, at his Sandy Beach home early on Sunday.

The man was called outside by three men in Coral Drive at 1am, and he broke his leg as he fell down his stairs.

The trio then punched and kicked the injured man, and stole his dark green 1999 Toyota Landcruiser Prado station wagon.

• Coffs Harbour police are urging anyone with information on either attacks to contact them on 6652 0299, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
