Seahorses gear up

WOOLGOOLGA coach Greg Shuttleworth is hoping his players can finally get their season back on track when they take to the field against Bellinger Valley-Dorrigo this afternoon.

The Seahorses are yet to record a win after three matches and will be hungry to change that against a struggling Magpies outfit.

"It has been a less-than-ideal start to the season but we are slowly coming together," Shuttleworth said.

"The last two results have been disappointing because we were in strong positions and weren't able to take advantage of our chances.

"We are improving but we need to start winning games to be in with a chance of making the finals."

Despite suffering their third defeat in three starts last week against Nambucca Heads, Woolgoolga has begun to rediscover its way to the try line. Shuttleworth believes it is a sign of things to come.

"We were in a strong position last weekend against Nambucca but made a few errors that cost us the game," he said.

"It was great to have Lloyd Munro back in the squad, and he'll be better for the run.

"This week we'll see former Queensland Cup player Steve Spencer pull on the Seahorses jersey for the first time so there are plenty of positives going forward."

Bellingen have struggled to remain competitive this season; however, the Seahorses coach rejects the notion it will be an easy game.

"We need to give Bello the respect they deserve, and I'll be stressing that to the players," Shuttleworth said.

"The boys will be up for a big game and will be ready to turn the season around."
