SCU is growing globally

SOUTHERN Cross University continues to attract strong interest from international students.

During 2008 there was a total of around 800 international students studying onshore at Southern Cross University campuses at Coffs Harbour, Lismore and Tweed Gold Coast.

The number of international students studying in Australia jumped 21 per cent last year, the biggest rise since 2002, Education Minister Julia Gillard said.

At the Coffs Harbour campus, the number of international students who finished their studies jumped from 12 in 2007 to 47 in 2008.

At the end of 2008, 310 international students completed their studies at Lismore, Coffs Harbour and Tweed Gold Coast, compared with 237 students who finished their studies in 2007.

A record 543,898 international students attended Australian institutions in 2008.
