Letter to the Editor - August 5:Scripture Union’s not violent

I REFER to the article "Scripture lessons out of class" on page 11 of Saturday's Advocate.

While supporting the audit of all religious groups operating in New South Wales schools, I take exception to the fact the only organisation specifically named was Scripture Union.

I have been associated with SU for more than 50 years, both in schools and out, and never could their activities have been described as "indoctrinating students with violent religious messages during school hours" as stated in the article.

In fact, they have done and are doing an immense amount of good for young people in New South Wales and Australia-wide.
