Woolgoolga Scouts need new leader
ARE you scouting for a job?
Then the Woolgoolga Scouts has one advertised and the specifications include – must like kids, love the outdoors and be able to meet one afternoon a week.
The organisation is desperately searching for a new leader as their current pack leader Kate Deans is stepping down from the position.
Unable to keep up with the demands of both scout and venturer leader she is putting out an appeal for a new scout leader for the 10 and a half to 14-year-olds.
She said the scouts are keen and enthusiastic to have lots of fun while learning survival, outdoor and teamwork skills.
“I have done all sorts of things I never would have expected to through my involvement with scouting, such as abseiling, white-water canoeing and caving,” she said.
“I love to get to know young people and see their imaginative ways of dealing with problems and how they support each other to succeed in scouting.
“While they are competitive naturally, scouting gives them encouragement and support to help each other succeed and learn leadership skills. It really is a great thing for young people of this age.”
Anybody interested in the position will receive full training through Scouts Australia and paid for by the local scout group.
Basic training can lead to Certificate III in Leadership Support or Certificate III in Frontline Management. Advanced training leads to Certificate IV in Leadership Support or Certificate IV in Frontline Management
