Scorpions on target
COACH Richard Evans began dragging his Sawtell footballers back to earth about 5pm last Saturday.
The Scorpions had just smashed Woolgoolga 16-0 and the coach lost no time in making certain the players were made aware of their mortality.
"I congratulated them on a job well done and told them it was now all over and we had another big game coming up to get ready for," he said.
"There were a few more words to remind them at training and now it's time for the next opponent.
"Boambee are on a winning streak and deserve a lot of respect but we'll treat them as we find them, as we always do."
With the play-offs in sight, Evans is starting to fine-tune the line-up that will be the vanguard of the finals campaign.
Keeping everybody fit is the only problem.
"Captain Jake Glover has been troubled by a knee problem so I rested him for the start of the Woolgoolga match and only brought him on for a small run near the end," Evans revealed.
"He has come through fine and I plan to start him for this match.
"However, Peter O'Neill is still down with a groin injury and won't be available.
"Apart from those couple of things, we are fit and ready for a good match."
Seven goals against the Wolves helped hard-running striker Luke France leapfrog several teammates to land a clear third for the Golden Boot award.
He now has 12 goals but remains a long way behind runaway leader Nick Lambert, who slammed down a hat-trick for Coffs United against Northern Storm to put him on 27 so far.
