Maryborough MP sells ice cream shop

IT WAS a tough decision for Maryborough MP Bruce Saunders to sell his ice cream store after he realised his job was keeping him to busy to operate it fulltime.

Mr Saunders sold the ice cream store to Peter and Norelle Barham and said he couldn't have wished for better people to sell Scoops too.

"They've made some really positive changes," Mr Saunders said.

"They are selling smoothies and juices now too.

"It's gone into really safe hands."

Mr Barham said he and his wife had taken over the store in January and they were loving the experience so far. He said his wife had been interested in the store and when it became available, they agreed to buy it.

"We really enjoy seeing the kids come in after school and enjoy an ice cream - and watching older people sitting an enjoying an ice cream after a long day," Mr Barham said.

"It's meant to be a happy shop and that's what it is."

With plenty of flavours of gelato and ice cream to choose from, it was hard to pick just one.

But Mr Barham said his favourite flavour was definitely cherry ripe.
