Schoolies teen airlifted from Fraser Is with shoulder injury

A TEENAGER has been injured after a vehicle he was working on fell on his shoulder at Fraser Island during Schoolies Week.

The Bundaberg-based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to Eurong on Fraser Island at 7am Monday.

CareFlight's crew assessed the 17-year-old Brisbane boy for a suspected shoulder injury.

The teenager told the crew he and a friend were helping a tourist replace the back right wheel on a four-wheel drive yesterday afternoon when two car jacks gave way.

"The car wheel was stuck, so he's kicked the wheel and the rear of the car has given way and collapsed on his left shoulder," CareFlight Pilot Peter Marris said.

"He's in some pain, but is in a stable condition."

The boy was airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital for urgent treatment to his injured shoulder.

He was on the island celebrating Schoolies at the time of the accident.
