School holiday adventures roll at Bellingen Shire libraries

SCHOOL holidays in the Bellingen region are going to be one adventure after another.

Activities centred on the libraries at Bellingen, Urunga and Dorrigo offer a series of free events for all ages.

Starting this Thursday is a workshop called Zendoodles/Zentangle where participants use structured and coordinated patterns to produce beautiful and interesting pieces of art.

The mysterious Mandala workshops using magic and meditation will be held at all three libraries, leading up to the visit by writer Angela Kirin to Bellingen on Friday, July 11.

Angela is a world travelled teacher, mother of two teenagers, emerging Australian author and public speaker for young adult literature.

Her current writing project, Doctor Elbows, introduces readers to the world of Gillian Roberts, a bullied, young girl whose life is dramatically changed after the sudden arrival of an ancient, cursed Chinese gem - The Diamond Of Yunxi - in her hometown.

Along the way she comes across three of the most incredible people she could hope to meet.

Together they embark on an adventure to rid the city of escalating crime and uncover the secrets of this mysterious curse.

Angela will conduct her writing workshop and discuss her journey to becoming an author and provides tips for budding young writers.

Bookings for all events are essential.

Contact the local library at Bellingen on 6655 1744, Dorrigo on 6657 2234 or Urunga on 6655 6444.
