Saxby in great touch at champs

COFFS Harbour’s Tamika Saxby has moved into the third round of the Women’s World junior squash championships in Boston after an impressive straight games win over Englishwoman Sophie Lemon.

Saxby looked in great touch as she downed Lemon 11-7, 11-7, 11-6 to set up a clash with unseeded Hayley Mendez of the USA.

However, there was bad news for the other Australians in action on the first day.

After beating Mary Fung-a-Fat of Guyana, Jessica Turnbull then fell to Hong Kong’s Ho Ka Po.

Selena Shaikh went down to Japanese player Risa Sugimoto and Bethany Brazier lost to New Zealand’s Danielle Fourie.

Earlier in the day Jennifer Brown and Challen Stowell both bowed out.
