Sawtell marches towards victory

IT’S the one event that Sawtell Surf Life Saving Club has dominated for years and the winning streak continues.

The Sawtell team once again claimed the march past title at the North Coast Branch Carnival at Sawtell Beach on Sunday.

Sawtell has proudly boasted that it has the best march past team on the North Coast and the continued success stems from hours of practice.

The NSW Country champions showed on Sunday the form that it hopes will lead to it being crowned the best in the state when the NSW championships are held at Kingscliff next month.

The club that helped nurture the talents of national ironwoman competitors Courtney and Bonnie Hancock may have also uncovered the next generation of surf stars.

Tahlia Kollen and Tara Brogmus took out the under-12 and under-13 ironwoman races respectively.

Coffs Harbour SLSC was named overall winners of Sunday’s carnival with Sawtell finishing second.
