Saudi prince's attacker fined $600

A TOURIST who punched a Saudi Arabian prince in Noosa has been fined $600.

Prince Abdul Rahman Al Saud was assaulted at the Bay Village early on the morning of November 7.

The 22-year-old, who remains on the Sunshine Coast, had been studying for his helicopter licence. He was also learning English.

Clontarf man Rhett Hawksford, also 22, appeared at Noosa Magistrates Court yesterday charged with assault.

Mr Hawksford pleaded guilty.

He said he had acted after female friends approached him about 4am on the day of the incident. They told him that a group of men had harassed them in the Rolling Rock club. He said he found the men he believed responsible and struck Prince Al Saud.
