Santa arrives at the Plaza

THE silly season is officially under way with the arrival of Father Christmas to the region’s biggest shopping centre.

Santa, as we love to call him, was mobbed by hordes of children as he ambled through Park Beach Plaza early on Saturday morning.

They’d been whipped into a frenzy of excitement by performances from the Julie Ross Dancers. The arrival of the bearded man in the red suit was itself heralded by the commanding sounds of the Coffs Drumline.

Santa has now taken up residence at the Plaza where he will be talking to the young and young at heart and taking note of their Christmas wishes right through until the close of trade on Christmas Eve.

For the record, there are now just 33 sleeps – and shopping days – until Christmas.
