Salvos' doorknock appeal raises $27,000

YOU opened your hearts to the Salvos and you gave generously!

Yesterday's Red Shield Appeal raised an estimated $27,000 on the Coffs Coast, and this tally is expected to rise even further as donations continue to flow in.

Appeal chairman for Coffs Harbour, Sawtell and Woolgoolga, Robert Mill, said he was happy with the response.

"It's what we expected to raise in the area," he said.

"It was a smooth operation. We had 420 volunteer collectors and drivers who gave their time, and everyone was smiling and laughing.

"It's about getting out into the community, meeting people and coming back with a great experience."
